At last night’s Full Council I asked about the negotiations between Kettering Borough Council and the County Council over decriminalisation of parking because until the new system is brought in where wardens will be able to patrol and enforce illegal parking, problem hotspots in Kettering will remain (outside some schools and some residential streets for example).
I was informed that the next meeting between the two Councils is due to take place in May. As this issue has been dragging on for years I further asked the Councillor in charge if she agreed with me that delay appears to have been caused by the County Council not taking the issue seriously. She responded that yes, she did agree which pleased me as it’s seems ridiculous that this issue was not decided long ago. I’d like to lock both sides in a room and not let them out until they have reached agreement!
