Twelve years ago during the County Council elections (2005) local Conservatives claimed on their leaflets that we needed 200 additional Police Officers in Northamptonshire.

They actually stated (if you read the leaflet) ‘Under the Conservatives 371 more Police would be deployed in Northamptonshire’.

Have they delivered ? NO.

During my time in Parliament, between May 1997 and September 2004, the number of Police Officers in the County rose by over 100. In September 2004 the number of Police officers in the county was 1285 by February 2017 this had gone down to 1247 (click to enlarge the graphs):

Empty promises do not make our streets safe or our homes secure.
