The new North Northamptonshire Council has taken a big step forwards to become a paperless council, and this will significantly reduce the Council’s carbon footprint.

In the past, Councillors for the County and Borough councils used to receive a bulky weekly envelope of agendas and reports. This wasn't very “green” but also must have taken a lot of time and effort - and therefore cost - to compile and distribute. Cllr Anne Lee (Labour, Windmill) comments: ‘I look forward to the day when North Northants Council will repair potholes and surface roads with recycled plastic. Until then, we can already save a lot of trees by keeping our agendas and reports online’.

All council documents for the new North Northamptonshire Council will now be uploaded to the "Modern.Gov" online app and this means that they’re also available to anyone with a smart phone or tablet, not just councillors. To access them, download and install the "Modern.Gov" app from your phone or tablets app store.

A huge amount of work has also been happening behind the scenes to construct the council’s new website at, and to streamline the phone services into one number: 0300-1263000.

As you can imagine, this is a lot of work and as with any major change or improvement, there are some teething problems. If you can't get through to the service you need, you can report it to Cllr Anne Lee at She will be more than happy to help.
