At last new doors have been fitted on a group of council houses in my ward! I’ve been fighting to get them replaced since I first became a councillor in 2007. They were old and in bad condition. They let in draughts and noise from the busy road outside, and looked terrible both to the residents and passersby.

After a lot of fighting I eventually got agreement that they would be replaced, but not until 2014 and it was not possible to do them sooner.

To cut a long story short when 2014 came around this was put back until 2020 so the fight continued and I’m pleased so say work has now been done, although I still don’t see why it couldn’t have been done sooner as the finances were available, but I must now offer overdue congratulations to the Council.

There were mishaps with sizing and other issues which caused further delays but the finished job is superb and I have already have heard good reports from the residents. Even though I’m disappointed it took so long, I’m pleased that the persistence of myself and my colleagues has finally paid off.
