Currently they have a few small portable heaters which are hardly making any difference and staff, volunteers and users are all complaining about the cold.

In answer to my direct question about whether or not the fact the boiler was coming towards the end of its life was picked up during regular servicing, so perhaps remedial work could have been done in the summer time at no inconvenience to users, I have had it confirmed that they were warned it should be replaced back in 2011 but decided they couldn’t afford it at that time so are now left with a freezing cold library and presumably increased energy costs as even though they are not very effective, those small heaters eat electricity.

One more example of the County Council cutting costs in the short term only to have to pick up the bill, both financially and for inconvenience later?
