I was really pleased to see repair work carried out on an old electricity sub station on Russell Street the other week.

This came about after I was contacted by a local resident who was concerned because of its dilapidated condition, and the fact children climbed on it for fun and were in danger because it was literally falling down in places.

I contacted the relevant electricity company directly and liaised with KBC about the Health & Safety issues. I suggested that as the building work next to the site on some new housing was coming to an end, this might be an opportune time to tidy up the building and make it safe and secure.

I’m pleased they agreed with me and am even more pleased this has now happened. It isn’t much, but little things like this do help improve an area and benefit all of us that live in the community.
