I am pleased to announce the installation of a new grit bin towards the London Road end of Green Lane where the height of the buildings often stops the sun from melting the ice in a bad winter.

The bin is for use by the public so please feel free to use the grit on the road or the footpath during icy conditions.

Despite having told the County Council of various accidents and two occasions where ambulances had to be called, the Highways Department still would not provide a grit bin but I’ve managed to fund a privately owned grit bin in a scheme set up for use by Parish Council’s in villages. It means that the County Council will not be responsible to re-fill the bin, but if people wish to contact me if and when it needs refilling, I should be able to arrange it using local community funds.
