I’ve just been to the official opening of the new play equipment at Grafton Street Park. This all came about because the children of St. Andrew’s Primary undertook some work on deciding how they wanted to improve their community and decided to call for improvements to the park.

They then approached the council who were able to use the consultation work the children had done to secure a grant to pay for it.

I’m extremely proud of the children and am pleased to have been involved in the scheme since it first started. The small amount of funding I acquired to help set the project up initially has certainly paid dividends.

Hopefully this is a sign of things to come as Cllr. Keli Watts and I have funded a similar scheme at St. Mary’s School and are working with the children there to see what improvements they want.
