There has been a lot in the media about the changes to the free TV Licence for the over 75’s. I have spoken to concerned Kettering residents who will be affected by the change and who from now one will have to pay the full price for their television license.

This change can be very upsetting for those that have made provision throughout their lives to cope with bills in retirement and who now find that their careful budgeting is being tested by this mean spirited change.

Age UK have warned that as many as 50,000 pensioners could be plunged into poverty because of the changes made to the provision of the free TV licence.

As the promise to safeguard existing benefit entitlements for pensioners was a Conservative manifesto pledge, I ask the government to please think again.
