Steve King is standing to be elected to Northamptonshire County Council to represent the Rothwell & Mawsley Division
Steve is your Labour Party Candidate for Rothwell & Mawsley Division
I am an Senior Leader in a Northampton Secondary School and I am Chair of Kettering Rural Labour Branch and I am now the Labour Party Candidate for Rothwell and Mawsley in the Northamptonshire County Council election on May 4th.
I am 42 and live in Mawsley with my wife and two children who attend Mawsley School where I am a Governor. Locally I have previously served as a Parish and Borough councillor.
The facilities around our area make this a great place to live – whether the great shops, restaurants or the beautiful countryside. However this can mask the reality. I work in a Northants Secondary and know first-hand the impact of the cuts.
Our County Council has been cut back beyond recognition and the Tories seem intent on endangering services for the young and the old. If elected I would campaign to stop the cuts and make supporting schools and vulnerable children my priority.
We also need to look to ensure that vulnerable and elderly people in our area are supported with transport and the support they need. There is an alternative to cutting everything. Let’s make our services great again.
Labour is campaigning hard to make Northamptonshire a better place to live and work. At a time when many people are suffering greatly because of cuts implemented by the Tory Government and Tory County Council, Labour is working to make our area better.
Our pledges to you:
- Labour will rebuild Adult Social Care Services.
- Labour will improve our pavements and roads.
- Labour will improve our failing Children’s Services.
- Labour will help and support local businesses.
- Labour will put people at the heart of decision-making.
