This deep hole is at the entrance to Kettering’s cemetery on London Road at the junction with Bowling Green Road and appears to have been left after work on the grate.

In my opinion it represents a very real danger to cyclists who are often forced into the gutter by the heavy traffic at that junction and may not be able to avoid riding into it.

I have reported the danger and hope it will be rectified with some urgency but have also emailed the head of service to ask what protocols are in place to consider any danger, in particular to cyclists, when leaving work on the highways.
