Crime and Policing in Kettering

The new Chief Constable of Northants police is called Nick Adderley. I heard him speak in Wootton Hall, Northampton a couple of weeks back, at a meeting with Police and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold. The Chief Constable explained that 87% of 999 calls are answered within 10 seconds in Northamptonshire. On the flip-side, calls to the general 101 number can take a great deal longer to answer.

In Pipers Hill Ward, we are very lucky to have PCSO Babs Loveday, who knows the ward inside out and who has a great rapport with the residents, especially teenagers.
Chief Constable Adderley explained that there are tough times ahead, as the money of ‘statutory partners’ dries up. This is yet another public service badly undermined by years of austerity.

Neighbourhood Watch in Kettering is going from strength to strength, as communities come together to try and support each other against crime. As a Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator, I pass on alerts about scams and rogue traders, bicycle marking sessions and police surgery hours.
